Trek to Ramadevara betta, Kyatsandra, Tumkur
Ramadevara betta is on the stretch which goes to Tumkur. This is 64kms from Hebbal junction, and takes about 90 minutes to reach. It's a toll free stretch if you are on a two wheeler. Enroute, you would pass by Dobaspet/Dabaspete, then after 15kms you need take a right turn and head towards Kyatsandra railway station. From here, its just 10 minutes walk to the base of the hill.
We started on my bike at 09:45 from Hebbal with my partner in crime whose a travel/trekking junkie. Since we were already late and had some catching up to do, we drove at break neck speeds of 80-100KMPH :P. With such super sonic speeds we were able to catch up with our new friends at Kyatsandra railway station at around 11AM. They had started out on their journey in a train from Majestic (Sangolli Rayanna railway station) to Kyatsandra railway station. We parked our bike at the railway station, since we figured out it was a safe place to park (no parking charges).
After the intro session, we started our trek from the railway station. With a little bit of asking around we reached the base of the hill, which is about a kilometer from the station. There are no shops around so it's a good idea to carry some food and water before the start of the trek.
As always the climb down to the base was quick,
we took around 50 minutes to reach the base and another 10 minutes to
reach the railway station. We reached the parking lot by 16:15, and then
we stated our journey back home. My not so accurate fitness tracker gave
a reading of 4000 steps from the peak to the base, which is good since
it helped me hit my daily step count of 8600(Appalling I know, gone are
the days where my daily step count target was above 10000 steps :D ).
Being a Saturday we had expected more trekkers, since on the way up we saw just a solo trekker, and on our way down we met 5 more trekkers. Also, another observation was that the place was very clean and with no plastic were strewn around. This is always a good sight to see since most of the places we go these days have plastic and other filth strewn around.
On the whole, a good trekking experience and a day well spent with my beloved partner in crime ;)
